Description:
We'll be making/decorating candle crowns inspired by the Feast of Saint Lucy.* Julia will share materials, crafting techniques and food (have you seen one of her pavlovas?!?) in a cozy and intimate settings meant to inspire and connect.
According to legend, Lucy brought food and aid to those in hiding wearing a candle-lit wreath on her head to light her way, leaving both hands free to carry as much food as possible. Because her name means "light" and her feast day had at one time coincided with the shortest day of the year prior to calendar reforms, it is now widely celebrated as a festival of light.

From Julia:
"An evening of communing together; treating ourselves and others. A gestural object-making practice exploring light and giving and resistance. We'll be thinking about illumination: How do we shine a light in dark places? How do we ignite others to join? How is a fire consuming? How are we consuming? Can we participate in communal acts that are about performance, but that lead to actual action? I think of this as less of a workshop than as a happening, a gesture of light that we put out in the world together. Hoping it’ll ignite further action."
Please note:
