EVENT! COMMUNITY MENDING NIGHT
EVENT! COMMUNITY MENDING NIGHT
Missing a button? Got a loose hem? Hole in your favorite sweater?
If you're like us, you have a pile of mending that's been begging for your attention. Join us Wednesday, March 19th, from 5:30-8:30pm for a mid-exhibit event with our current clothing curator, Rebekah Dortmund of Little Byrd Vintage. Attendees will each tackle our own piles of mending in this casual and community-oriented event. If things go as planned, it'll feel like a cozy party and we'll all go home with one less line item on our to-do list.
Bring your own supplies if you have something specific in mind or dig through our personal stash of fabric to patch up your holes. We'll have a variety of thread and vintage buttons, as well as scissors and needles to share.
A selection of refreshments, snacks and homemade baked goods will be provided.
SKILL LEVEL: We suggest that attendees have at least a rudimentary understanding of simple stitching as there is no formal instruction being offered at this event (i.e. you should know how to thread a needle and tie a knot). That said, we will be more than happy to share our own repair techniques and offer guidance where necessary. Additionally, skill-sharing among attendees is always encouraged!
